To help you prepare to judge the entries here are 5 key factors to consider on judging day:
TASTE: look for flavor that’s tempting and balance
CONSISTENCY: seek a good ratio of sauce to texture elements
AROMA: make sure the chili smells great and whets your appetite
COLOR: see if it has a deep, rich, appealing hue
BITE: confirm it has “bite,” the heat that comes from peppers and spices
